How has this not been thought of before? I asked myself this same question when I was swimsuit shopping with one of my daughters last winter. She was 11 years old and had a hard time fitting into the Girls size swimwear that was designed for her age.  Unfortunately, her body size was larger than the industry ‘standard’ and she couldn’t find anything that would fit properly.  We ventured into the Women’s section in search of a swimsuit that would be appropriate, stylish, and fun for an 11 year old to wear.  We had no luck.  Nothing we found in the Women’s section was appropriate for her to wear or fit her correctly.  Women’s swimsuits were designed, well…..for women.  Besides the fit, the style of the Women’s swimwear was completely inappropriate for an 11 year old, either too much skin showing or coverage from shoulders to knees.  My daughter didn’t want to wear either of those types of swimsuits.  She wanted something age appropriate, stylish, trendy, and comfortable.  She wanted to “wear what the other girls were wearing” and she couldn’t because that wasn’t available to her in her size.  

At this point in our shopping trip, tears started to flow and this is where my momma heart began to break for her.  “This has to be easier” I thought to myself.  “Why is there not a girls swimwear line that is targeted to this demographic of girls?”  After doing some research, I couldn’t find 1 brand that offered this type of product exclusive to her demographic.  This is where I asked myself the million dollar question….”How has this not been thought of before?”  From that simple question….the idea of SwimHer started and I was off on a new journey.
